David Antonetti, MS, LMFT
David is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a retired 24-year veteran of the Armed Forces. He holds graduate and undergraduate degrees in counseling and psychology majors that emphasize a holistic/systems focus on mental health and wellness. Not surprisingly, his therapeutic approach emphasizes the harmony between acceptance and change, and between individual and broader social factors. His work is founded on the idea that even the most confusing symptoms can be understood in context, when we combine empathy and time-tested methods of scientific inquiry to understand how and why our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors go astray in some very predictable ways.
Starting from this perspective, and with a focus on psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral interventions, David has successfully treated a breadth of mental health challenges, including marital and family conflict, parent/child relational problems, addiction, post-traumatic stress, chronic and explosive anger, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and adjustment problems. Additionally, from his time as coordinator for the premarital counseling program at a large community mental health center, he has a breadth of experience teaching workshops on marriage foundations, marital roles and responsibilities, communication, marital finances, intimacy, passions and motivations, and relational trust.
